  Dire (23 August 2010)
After two superb albums in "Parachutes" and "A Rush of Blood .." I expected much from "X & Y" but I was extremely disappointed. I now understand why some people refer to Coldplay as 'bland' - if this is what they base their opinions on, I'm right there with them. I'd go further and say this is total drivel, probably created in an afternoon with the sole intention of adding to Coldplay's bank balance.

The terms 'middle of the road' and 'easy listening' and 'elevator music' would be apt in describing "X & Y" although not as apt as "mind-numbingly boring, production-line, over-processed, stale ass water". It just goes to show you should never take a band for granted, although Coldplay have clearly taken their fans for granted if they think they will be satisfied with this claptrap.

They dominated the 00's with their songs and its easy to see why. (03 August 2010)
Anthemic, huge, passionate hopeful, universal in its subject matter of loss, love and happiness. Put together by four genuine musicians. Square One feels like setting off into space at the start of a long journey of discovering (and one is I suppose). White Shadows is a minimalist, hypnotic driving song. Talk is perfect Coldplay; epic, soaring, life affirming Indie. Speed Of Sound with its awesome piano riff/sample is more of the same; not a problem - one can handle this stuff all day long its sooo good. Good news since we get it on The Hardest Part. Twisted Logic is darker and more progressive than the rest of the record while Til Kingdom Come is an almost disposable acoustic ballad. They dominated the 00's with their songs and its easy to see why.

Not one bad song. (25 July 2010)
A great album to listen to, whether at home or on the road. Their best to date.

  3 good tracks don't make a album (10 April 2010)
I know I am going to upset some people and don't mind as don't get upset when people don't like what I like i just except it, the fact they're wrong doesn't come into it. Joking apart I only own the first 3 albums and this is their worst. I noticed they had gone off the boil with their second album A Rush of Blood to the Head. But I find this album X&Y a bit boring and samey. and because of that I won't be slashing out on anymore Coldplay. The three tracks I like; Fix You, Talk and The speed of sound are quite good.
Sorry Coldplay Fans I just don't find X&Y depressingly enough too enjoy.

  Total Quality (01 March 2010)

Coldplay is an extra special band of the 21st century..this album 'X and Y' is by far their greatest offering..this is top music and well crafted..and a must for anyone that appreciates this type of music..Listen to this and 'Hopes and fears' by 'Keane' and you have a nearly a Two hour journey into musical excellence!
