My attention was first drawn to Aspects after listening to some mix tape from Hombre records that I somehow aquired. Although Aspects come under the title of 'Hip-Hop' at Amazon.com or any record store, i have another theory. Aspects are not Hip-Hop, they're just plain psycho! A mix of unmistakable drum machines, Bristolian vocals and adveturous producing shouldn't work, but it does! And i love it. Pity this form doesn't have a 6 out of 5 star rating. Oh, and they rocked Ashton Court the other day at the Essential Festival with live performances of My Genre, We Get Fowl and Ects Factor. BUY THIS RECORD NOW YOU FOOL!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Gurt Booshin' Lush! (24 December 2001)this is west country hip de hop at its full on best. they biz ripping up the rap, and mezzin' with me mind. i luvves it. fantastic. Also the production is top one. recorded at SOA with Bristle's own Stuart Matthews (DJ DeadAir) hot on the production giving a big for the Aspects sounds. Lurvely. Buy it and laugh till your bits fall off. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hip-Hop that takes life a little less serious! (06 August 2001)This is the best British Hip Hop album i ve heard for a long time. If you like your lyrics to be a little less agressive and serious, then this is the album you have been waiting for. There are plenty of quality samples (DJ Vadim / Jurrasic 5 Style) which are combined with a crystal clear vocal delivery with a cheeky Bristolian Twang. The lyrics are intelligent and at times extremely funny. This is West Country Hip Hop not West Coast Flip Flops. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() UK Hip-Hop album of the year! (05 August 2001)For those of you who don't know Aspects are a 5 piece Hip-Hop Group from Bristol. They consist of 3 MC's El-Eye, Probe Mantis, Bubberloui, producer Specify and DJ Nu Balance. This is different from most UK Hip-Hop albums, it's main focus is on fun, the beats are funky and the cuts are fresh. All the tracks have a theme to them such as "We Get Fowl" where El-Eye and Probe Mantis rhyme about chickens, lines such as "The poulterer and the hen night host/out on the town for chicks to spit roast" stand out. All three MC's have a solo track, Bubberloui rhymes about his love for women on "Adverse Curves", Probe Mantis rhymes about his love of 1980's films on "My Genre" and El-Eye rhymes about Witchcraft. Nu Balance and Specify display their DJ skills on "Bristol Fingers" which is reminiscent of a Nu Mark and Cut Chemist track on J5's album. While listening to this you won't want to skip any of the tracks even the skits add to the madness of the album. 'Ects Factor is a battle rhyme which is laced by MC's El-Eye and Probe Mantis and then the whole album is brought down to earth with the very dark "Lost Soul" but The Aspects still manage to make this fit in perfectly with the rest of the album. This is a must by for people who don't take their Hip-Hop or life too seriously. actually, even if they do take it serious they should go out and buy it anyway! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() wicked bristolian hip hop (19 June 2001)Think handsome boy modelling school with a UK twist. The best UK Hip Hop album i've heard, with excellent beatz and loads of added humour. It's got an old skool feel that doesn't take itself to seriously. Brilliant, UK Hip hop is hear to stay. |
